Emirates NBD wholesale bank and treasury jointly sponsored the 2008 Euro Finance Conference on Trade, Treasury and Cash Management in the Middle East, held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel on the 11th and 12th of March. This sponsorship comes in line with Emirates NBD’s continuous efforts to adopt best practices, share its views on the latest trends in the Trade, Treasury and Cash Management industry and strengthen its position as leaders in the financial services industry.

The Euro Finance Conference looked at the region’s tremendous growth and opportunities, the changing regulatory environment and the increasing sophistication and liquidity of the financial markets. Through corporate case studies and expert speakers, delegates learned about building efficiency in cash and liquidity management as well as robust policies and procedures for currency and other risks. Local and international thought leaders shared their views on the latest treasury challenges, solutions and trends. The seminar was well attended by over 450 senior finance and treasury professionals from companies operating across the Middle East, particularly those looking to expand their regional and cross-border businesses.

Mr. Rick Pudner, CEO of Emirates NBD inaugurated the seminar giving a brief insight on the latest developments in the Financial Services across the region.

The other speakers from Emirates NBD included Mr. Jason Goff, Head of Treasury and Sales, gave an in-depth analysis on Currency Reports and Mr. Rajan Khetarpal, Deputy GM & Head, Global Debt Capital Markets & Overseas Corporates, Emirates NBD chaired a panel discussion along with two Emirates NBD Customers on Lending Liquidity in Project Finance. The discussion gave an outlook on key trends in the project financing market and what impact the credit crunch has made on lending availability and liquidity pricing and addressed various issues facing the industry.

As a precursor to the EuroFinance event, the wholesale bank held its first joint Customer Dinner at the Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai. H.E. Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade was the chief guest and she addressed the gathering giving her insights on the key economic and trade related issues. H.E. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of Emirates NBD and Mr. Rick Pudner CEO, Emirates NBD also spoke at the occasion. The evening hosted Members of the Emirates NBD Board, Ex-co, Senior Managers, VIP guests and Wholesale Banking clients. The event was well attended and wholesale bank customers were informed about the latest developments as well as the bank’s efforts to integrate its operations post merger.
